In Loving Arms | Cobourg Newborn Photographer

At 10 days new, James is loved. Tessa is so gentle with him, and enjoys snuggling with him. I did his maternity session 11 days ago, glad we got it fit in! Soon he will be headed back home to Minnesota. I sure hope they come back for family photos down the road!

Ava, 6 days new | Cobourg Newborn Photographer

Newborns are everywhere this month, and I can’t say I mind one little bit. I was actually doing birth photography last week and Ava was getting checked up while I was in the hall (and another little newborn that will be posted very soon was also in the room across the hall) and I got so excited cause I was going to be photographing her within a few days. Her mommy was shocked when she came out with dark, full head of hair…but most of the time they come out looking like daddy! I did their engagement photos a couple years ago, and love when they come back for baby photos. Thanks Sara and Jesse for letting me capture Ava’s newborn squishyness!

Izabelle | Cobourg Newborn Photographer

I was at the hospital the night Shannon went into labor, and the look on her face as her and Phil walked down the hall brought back memories! We all thought this little one was going to be a boy, but she surprised us! That’s ok, I’m sure they have pink john deer things out there Phil! Here are a few sneak peaks. She didn’t want to sleep too much for us, and when she was awake, she had quite the different expressions going on!

owen | cobourg newborn photographer

Owen’s mommy was ready to get him in as soon as possible. But then she went overdue, and I went to Punta Cana to photograph a wedding. So as soon as I got back we got him into the studio at two weeks old. He didn’t want his hands anywhere but at his face, and would protest whenever I tried to move them. He was a bit stubborn, but I am more stubborn ;)   It was so nice watching mommy and daddy with him, he is a very loved baby. Thank you Adam and Amy for letting me capture his newborn stage for you!

Elijah Minifie | Cobourg Newborn Photographer

I have to say, one of my favorite names! When his mom brought him and and said he was two weeks old, I figured he was going to make me work hard. However, within a few minutes of working with him, I knew he didn’t feel two weeks old so I asked when her due date was and found out he’s actually not supposed to be born for another week. Premie’s are wonderful, they sleep very well. He was a dream to work with and such a beautiful baby! Daddy was very proud, almost drank some pee when Elijah decided to let loose, and mommy and grandma oohed and ahhed the entire time.  This little one is loved by many! Here are a few teasers….

Newborns | Cobourg Photographer

Just a heads up about your newborn photos. I find that newborns come in waves, and the next one is coming. They’re beginning to book up quickly, which means if you are having a baby in the next couple months, don’t wait to book your session. I try to do only one newborn session a day since I like to take my time with them and make sure we get all the shots (I did two newborns in one day the other week, and I really would prefer not to!)  Eight days and under is really the best time to bring your baby in if you want the actual newborn poses and for your baby to cooperate the best. And I promise, if you want you can sleep on the couch the entire time! Can’t wait for all the little squishy babies to come to the studio!

The Right Moment | Cobourg Photographer

Every photographer has something that is their favorite to photograph. My favorite is newborn. I love everything about it, even when it takes five hours to get the session done. I was out for lunch with another photographer on tuesday, and when Gerri said that she had a three day old coming in the next day, we decided to join forces for the session, like Carrie and Brittany (baby as art) do.  I have to say, it is much different working with another person with newborn. One poses, the other shoots then switch it up. I have to say, Marley was a little angel and slept the entire time and let us play with her a lot without objecting. She was a smiley one as well. For the photo below, I was showing Gerri how I do the pose, and right when I said, “ok, are you ready?” and I removed my hands, we got the most precious smile. Can’t beat that.  And we decided since we both had a hand in the photo, it was a collaborated effort and both of ours. I decided to share it in black and white, although I couldn’t decide what version I liked the best. I love my new pink blanket, but figured Gerri will post that one on her blog.  I will have a few more to post from this session, once I have the time to go through them.  Thanks Gerri (and Sheila for letting us play so much!) for letting me work with you, it was a nice change from being solo.

Gerri cranked up the heat in the studio and although Marley was happy, I had sweat rolling all over!"][/caption]

Leif | Cobourg Newborn Photographer

Every now and then it’s nice to change it up and try something different. So we took it outside with Leif. I was a bit worried because he’s 5 weeks old and they normally don’t cooperate with the newborn stuff and it wasn’t as warm as I was hoping. But we got to our spot, and had a ton of patience….he made sure to let us know we were on his time. He refused to let me put his hands together, he kept pulling them apart, so I got smart and worked with how he wanted them. Then once we got him settled in enough, I got ready, mommy took off the blanket and yanked the soother and I shot away until he would decide he wanted a different position. And he is one strong boy, could fully hold his head up and turn it the other direction no problem. I really enjoyed this session and the different feel it gives. It would be nice to incorporate some of these this summer when it gets nice and hot!

Jessica, thanks for letting me play with Leif and experiment and being a calm mom….and for letting me cuddle him at the end there.

Little Newborn, Alice | Cobourg Newborn Photographer

What better way to start your Monday then with a squishy little newborn? I posted a few of Alice already, but thought I would post some awake ones of her as well. She really didn’t sleep much for us at all, but when she was awake she was so bright eyed and alert! She has such pretty eyes, so I didn’t mind that I got to photograph them open as well!

Austin, oh so new! | Cobourg Newborn Photographer

Austin came to the studio just over a week. Mommy was positive he would sleep for us, since he has been a pretty good sleeper. Mommy might have been a tad bit wrong! My newborns have been very feisty lately! I think he just wanted to be cuddled and eat a lot! He’s such a cute little man! Thanks Ashley and Renee for letting me capture these precious moments.
