and this makes four! | cobourg and durham region photographer
Melissa is a frequent flyer at the studio, and always comes up with different ideas she wants to do with her sessions. So for her fourth maternity, she wanted to do a beach session (her last one she was in the middle of the winter snow topless). I have to say, I am in love with this session. It was our third attempt I think to have the right weather for it, and we got some awesome colors. We also did a quick session with the full family which is always fun when Kelton likes to run, and there’s a lot of area to run!
Nicole and Jay | Cobourg and Durham region photographer
These two did something I’ve been wanting to do, got some updated photos of just the two of them….no kids, just them. Jay wore his firefighter uniform and Nicole looked dazzling like usual! They were very fun to work with, like always, even though Jay needed some warming up. But after I teased him a bit, he started laughing and we got some beautiful shots….

I’ve known Elaine and Matt since highschool, they were highschool sweethearts. I was lucky enough to photograph their wedding, and then when I was asked to photograph the birth of their first child, I was so excited. Everything was planned out, induction was happening in the evening, the next day I had to take the kids to the dentist but I was sure we had plenty of time. Matt texted me when I was leaving the dentist saying she was only a couple centimeters and had just had an epideral. I figured that meant this baby wasn’t coming until the evening. So I took the kids home and started doing some cleaning. It was not much time before Matt texted me and said she was fully dialated (or maybe it was 9cm….I can’t remember, I just know I panicked because I had to drive to Peterborough). I wanted to text back “tell her to keep those legs closed!” but decided not to. I ran out of the house and drove maybe a bit over the speed limit. When I walked into the room, the first thing that happened was Elaine looked at me and said, “geez Jill, could you eat a hamburger or something!?” There she is in labor, and she’s commenting on how I look….And might I add, she looked stunning during and after giving birth. To the point that I wanted to slap that girl! I mean really, who looks that good during labor? Any ways….I didn’t have to wait long before things started really to progress. Matt was a doting husband with the ice chips and so quiet and calm. The parents paced the halls outside, peeking through the window hoping for the nurse to come tell them that little man had arrived! Elaine was amazing, she did what she was told, not one complaint or noise out of her. The nurses were amazing, I’ve never done a birth in Peterborough hospital but was blown away by the care these nurses gave and how well they monitored their patient. Within no time, Jordan came into this world, looking exactly like his dad! I’ve never seen a baby look so much like his dad as Jordan does. And quiet little man, hardly a peep out of him, even when they gave him his needle. And one of my most favorite parts was when Matt and Elaine’s parents and brother came into the room. I thought that room would burst with the love that filled it. I found myself becoming emotional getting to be witness to this family bond. I’ve been around a lot of families with weddings and portrait sessions, and there have not been many that have made me feel simply “wow” when I watched them. That little man is lucky.
So here is the video of his birth (it’s viewer friendly, some of the more personal parts are just for mommy and daddy to watch on their copy) and then his newborn session….

I swear I just did her newborn photos a couple weeks ago! why time has to continually fly by, I just don’t know! This session, I saw a whole lot of daddy in her. For two locations and numerous outfit changes, she did very well at this age to last as long as she did. I think she thinks I’m crazy though….
Ali, or should we say Ms. Diva? | Cobourg Photographer
I have had the opportunity to photograph Ali since she was just a few days old, and now she is two. I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone by. I know I say this often, but I really feel it with clients like this. Ali did not want her photo done, she wanted absolutely nothing to do with it, so she made me work…..really hard!! But after chasing her around for awhile I am pleased with the results!
