I was there when Lyla took her first breaths (although I was out of breath from running up the hall to get there) and now I have the privilage of photographing her through her milestones. When a family invites me in to capture all of these amazing times in their lives, I feel so honored, and I love watching them grow.  And when I can actually say I was there from the get go, I get a bit attached to these little ones!

Holly and Keith started bringing Logan when he was a few months old (she missed his newborn with me since he is very close in age to my youngest) and I have to say, I really enjoy this family….a lot. So sweet and kind. When Holly told me she checks my blog all the time, I thought, ‘that’s nice’. Then Keith gave me this look. I was wondering what that was for….then he said “she’s on it like every 5 minutes”  I laughed and thought, I’m sure it’s not that often….we’ll, I don’t know about that anymore. I recieve many emails and fb chats from Holly….especially when I post something of interest to her…..even more right after she’s had a session. Like right now. Today she has emailed me I don’t know how many times, just to see how the photos are going….of course, not dropping any hints that she wants to see them: “I can’t wait to see these photos!” And she even went as far as telling me that she’s doing much better with her patience…I don’t know if I agree with her   All joking aside, Holly, it makes me so happy that you get so excited about photos, you make my  job even that much more special…now stop bugging me!

Lacey came to the studio a few days ago and is 2 months old. She was a very alert baby, and even though near the end she was getting tired, she refused to close those eyes! But such pretty eyes they are…

At 10 days new, James is loved. Tessa is so gentle with him, and enjoys snuggling with him. I did his maternity session 11 days ago, glad we got it fit in! Soon he will be headed back home to Minnesota. I sure hope they come back for family photos down the road!

Owen made the trip to the studio, but decided on his first visit he wasn’t going to be very happy. So we got what we could but then decided to bring him back and do a few more. he was much happier for visit number two and we got some cute ones (and he was even that much more sturdy with holding his head up so that made a difference as well). Here are a couple…

Logan is part of my milestone club, and for his one year shoot, he just wasn’t all that happy. So we decided that once the weather got nice, we would do some more outside. I loved the expressions he gave me, and he loves to say “uh-oh” a lot (I got one picture of him in mid “uh”).  We made some funny faces, put songs on his dads phone (the hotdog song) and then let him get in the water, which he loved. And how lucky we got to find a mama duck with her ducklings. She even let her ducklings get pretty close, one climbed right over my foot, very cute. And as we were leaving, Holly of course said, so can I see these on the blog today? Holly likes to see her pictures right away, she gets so excited….and since she is such a loyal client, I can’t say no!! Here are a few of Logan from yesterday…

I’m not sure how Claire is already 11 months, but she is! I’ve had the pleasure of photographing her every couple of months, and each time she cracks me up. She makes some funny faces, and sometimes stares and me like “what is this chick doing?” Right now, I think she looks a lot like daddy (don’t worry Sarah, you’re in there too, just more Rich right now!) Here are a couple from her session…

I had to post these two of Kelton, he kept stretching during his shoot, and it was adorable. I mean, honestly, how can babies even pretend to act tired!? All they do is eat, sleep and poop! I love his big adorable lips! And then of course we had to do one of the three of them!

Some images I see and I know exactly how I want the finished product to look, and I get very excited. This was one of them. There are some photos that just belong as artwork on your wall, in a wall size print (and I’m not talking 8×10). To me, this is one of them!

This little one was kind of past that really newborn stage, so was not a fan of sleeping, being moved or being scrunched! But with patience, we got some really cute shots. And she’s got three older sisters and one older brother to boss her around when she gets older!

What better way to start your Monday then with a squishy little newborn? I posted a few of Alice already, but thought I would post some awake ones of her as well. She really didn’t sleep much for us at all, but when she was awake she was so bright eyed and alert! She has such pretty eyes, so I didn’t mind that I got to photograph them open as well!
